Many of those who visit Jordan will also visit Amman. The reason for this is that this city offers a whole host of attractions for you to see that you do not want to miss during your stay in Jordan. It should be noted that most travelers will rent a car in Amman because there can be a lot of miles between the major attractions.
Of the many things to see in this part of Jordan is the Citadel which is located on the highest hill in the city. Here you can find the ancient Rabbath-Ammon which has been occupied since the Bronze Age! You can also visit the famous Ummayad Palace and the Temple of Hercules.
You can also visit the Jordan Museum, which is a great place to learn more about Jordan's long history and see some of the oldest human statues in existence, as well as some of the Dead Sea scrolls. And you certainly do not want to miss a visit to the ancient city of Petra. This is one site where having a car rental in Amman will benefit you a great deal as it can be nearly impossible to visit surrounding areas unless you have your own transportation.
In order to rent a car in Amman, you will need to have a valid driver's license from your country and be at least 25 years old (some car rentals in Amman may exempt this requirement). And make sure you have the registration documents and insurance documents provided by the car rental company with you when driving.
