If you are planning a trip to the Spanish island of Ibiza, you are in for a treat. This island is not very big, but it is full of exciting things to do. While not large in size, you will want to rent a car in Ibiza as walking is really not an option, and it can be difficult getting to all the attractions by public transportation.
As we mentioned, there are many things to do, and one of the most enjoyable is to simply drive through the countryside where you can see cozy, whitewashed homes and villages. Each town usually has its own church, some ancient in age. And there are shops galore.
Speaking of shops, make sure you drive over to the so-called “Hippy Markets”. It is at these famous marketplaces that you can find great bargains on exotic batik wraps, leather goods (including moccasins) and wonderful pieces of exquisite jewelry.
Another popular destination for those who have car rentals in Ibiza is the Las Salinas Salt Flats. This one of the islands landmarks and is located on the island's southern tip. Locals (and others) have been mining salt here for more than 2000 years!
And don't miss visiting Dalt Vila, a Medieval castle that is considered a “must see” on the island. Adventurers will love the Can Marca Caves, a breathtaking underground system of caverns.
If you rent a car in Ibiza, know that they drive on the right side of the road, and experienced drivers will have no problems getting around. Seatbelts are mandatory, and children under 12 years old must ride in the backseat in a car seat. Companies that offer car rentals in Ibiza have these seats, so ask for one if needed.
