Autopilot system will appear on Audi cars
German car manufacturer Audi announced its new developing named Traffic Jam Assistant, that will be the first serial automatic pilot system.
This system is designated to work at a speed from 0 to 60kmh and is based on adaptive cruise control, which is already available in some Audi models and is able to keep distance from the car that is ahead and to slow down up to full stop if it is necessary. Traffic Jam Assistant consists of 2 radars, wide-angle camera and 8 ultrasonic sensors.
According to Audi, “corridor”, controlled by these systems, is significantly wider than traffic lane and allows a car to maneuver, giving way to emergency vehicles and driving round the occurring obstacles.
