From now Gm and LG are working together!

American company General Motors (GM) and Korean LG will develop electric cars together. It will be the first biggest cooperation between car-making company and an electronics company.
Now LG unit, that is called - LG Chem – provides lithium batteries for 2 hybrid cars from GM: Chevrolet Volt and Opel Ampera. The new agreement will expand the cooperation between the two giants - LG will become the main supplier of the American automaker.
General Motors hopes that cooperation will help to increase competitiveness in the production of hybrid cars, especially, when U.S. government demands to reduce the fuel cost.
This month, U.S. authorities announced, that the fuel economy needs to be doubled, which means, according to auto makers and experts, that the request for electric cars will be increased.
According to this agreement, LG can sell to other companies technologies, that were developed in cooperation with GM, which, in turn, will increase the influence of LG on the global car market.
