Highest standard of living in EU is in Luxembourg

Luxembourg finished first in Eurostat standard of living ranking. This European micro-state is followed by Great Britain, Germany, Netherlands and Austria. Standard of living in Luxembourg is 50% higher than average in the European Union countries. In Great Britain this rate is 21%.
The main criterion in this ranking was individual consumption expenditure level including all goods and services which people used whether they paid for it themselves whether government paid for it. Great Britain finished second because government there generally pays for such social services as public health and education.
Eurostat also determined most and least expensive EU countries. Denmark was considered the most expensive (prices there were 47% above the European Union average) and Bulgaria – the least expensive (55% below the EU average).
