R-Link: integrated car tablet by Renault
Renault announced its personal multimedia system R-Link which will appear for the first time next year on electric car ZOE and next-gen Renault Clio hatchback.
French car maker calls its novelty “integrated car tablet”. It has 7-inch touch-screen displaying information about how all car systems work, built-in navigation system Tom Tom maps, social networks sites, audio systems and plugged in to R-Link cell phone data.
Also R-Link allows driver to adjust system “home screen” at his own wish and add necessary functions and links to applications. R-Link can be managed with voice commands, display buttons or special remote control.
By the time R-Link system appears on production vehicles there will be developed nearly 50 applications for it made in the way to be used while driving. New applications can be downloaded right in the car from R-LINK-Store. By analogy with AppStore everyone will have an opportunity to develop personal application and upload it to store.
