  • Renault is going budget!

The Renault unveiled plans to develop and market the ultra budget car, the cost of which must be just over 2,500 euros. For comparison, this price is only about a third of the cost of the cheapest cars from Renault released today.

The main markets for the car will be in developing countries. However, specialists expect that the new car in a certain configuration will also find its customers in Europe, especially now, when the debt crisis made the purchase of a more expensive car not that easy many Europeans.

The closest competitor would be the French ultra budget car from India - Tata Nano. Last year, Renault has sold nearly 690 thousand cars with a lower price range, which accounted for about one quarter of the total sales of Renault's light vehicles worldwide.

The creating of new car will be managed by Gerard Deturbe, who heads the department of budget cars in the company.

Development of the vehicle will start from January 1, 2012
