Toyota GT 86 premiere
Toyota announced its new model – Toyota GT 86 – which inherited famous index 86 from famous Toyota Corolla Levin AE86. And only time will tell whether GT 86 becomes as popular as its ancestor. In Europe new model will be called GT 86 and in Japan – Toyota 86.
Toyota GT 86 is co-developed by Toyota and Subaru engineers and is fitted with 2.0-litre opposed engine generating 200hp and 205Nm. Standard features include 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic transmission alternatively.
According to Toyota GT 86 creators, thanks to opposed engine new model has low centre of gravity and is easy controllable on the road. Besides, new engine provides nearly ideal weight distribution endwise: 53% of the mass on the front axle and 47% on the rear axle.
Approximate price of the new model in Europe is €35 000. Toyota GT 86 premiere is expected at Tokyo Motor Show starting from November 30.
