  • U.S. Car rental companies want to penalize customers

According to statistics, almost 30 % of advanced orders of booking a car lease remain non-realized, i.e. clients don't come after the ordered car. In this situation the car-rental companies are loosing their money, especially during the prime-season. To compensate the expenses, car rental companies in the United States are planning to penalize all of the clients who doesn't appear to pick up their rented cars. On such decision car rental companies has been pushed by the successful experience of hotels and airlines which uses such penalty system for a long time. While making the reservation client should give the data of the credit card. In case that the person, for whatever reasons, do not uses a booked car, the company raises the certain penalty from clients' credit card. And now this system are trying to use such companies like Avis and Budget, providing services in the field of car rental in territory of the USA.

But to enter such innovation, it is necessary, that the client could give the data about the credit card at the time of the pre-order, rather than when receiving a car, as it practises now. It is assumed that the sizes of penalties won't be too big, but, nevertheless, they will force clients to approach more serious on pre-ordering a car for rent and not to make the unnecessary reservations. By the way, many European car rental companies are using such system for a long time.
