According to Volkswagen AG, owner of Porsche, in 2014-2015 German car maker will introduce hybrid versions of Audi Q7, European VW Passat and Audi A3 next-generation. Volkswagen representatives are sure, that plug-in hybrids have better future than usual hybrids. They are more useful, because can be charged from the electrical grid.

Such hybrids as Toyota Prius are fitted with two engines: internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric motor. Plug-in hybrids are set in motion by electric-motor, that feeds with accumulated energy store, and ICE feds battery and increases mileage without using an additional charge.

Plug-in hybrids are more advantageous, because they use pure electric energy to travel for a short distance and at the same time can use ICE for longer journeys. It is noteworthy, that Volkswagen plans to start hybridization of its model range with luxury vehicles, because their owners more often make long-distance trips.

However, Volkswagen will also produce simple electric vehicles and will introduce electric versions of its compact-car up! and famous Golf.
