    Hot Pic Title

Starting from October 2012 entrance to Park Guell – one of the most famous and popular Barcelona tourist attractions – will be paid for.

Up to date Park Guell remained the only work of the great architect Antonio Gaudi entrance where was absolutely free of charge. And starting from October 2012 tourists should pay to pass to its territory. It will cost € 5 for them, but for local residents it remains free of charge. All locals will get a special pass-ticket giving them an opportunity to visit Park at no charge.

According to city authorities, tourists should pay for the entrance by two reasons. First of all, Park costs too much for Barcelona residents and it is very expensive to keep it in a good condition. And secondly, it will cut the load on the most popular attractions of the Park, because too many visitors crowd there. By the way, it is most possible that entrance only to these attractions will be paid for, but not to the whole park. Local authorities plan to send funds received on the servicing of the Park and to improve level of tourist services.

Park Guell is the famous park with unusual sculptures, gardens and buildings located in the North part of Barcelona, created by the architect Antonio Gaudi in 1900 – 1914.

In 1962 it was announced a historical artistic monument of Barcelona and in 1984 along with other Gaudi works was included on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
