According to 2011 sales results, General Motors Company has sold more cars on the American market than any other car manufacturer. During previous year GM has sold 2.5 million cars in US which is 13% better than in 2010.
Second best is Ford with 2.14 million sold cars (9% better). Third in the list is Japanese car-maker Toyota, which managed to make top-three despite March earthquake in Japan aftermath. Because of natural disaster Toyota was forced to stop for a month car manufacture at its plants in Japan and also to cut down car assembly process at foreign enterprises, including USA.
As a result, on American market Toyota and Lexus cars were in deficit, which affected corporation results. At year-end 2011 it has sold in USA 7% less cars than year before – 1.64 million cars. All in all, sales volume on US market last year grew on 10% – up to 12.78 million cars.
Among car models, as last year, the most popular brand was Ford (2.06 million cars, 17% increase), second place took Chevrolet with 1.78 million cars and 14% increase and third was Toyota with 1.4 million cars and 6 % increase.
