Lexus is going to unveil its compact hybrid SUV – the upcoming competitor of BMW X1 and Audi Q3 – at the International Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland in March, 2014. Its prototype will make debut at The Tokyo Motor Show in November, 2013.

The new car will be built on the base of Toyota RAV4 and will take place in a model range prior to RX 450h SUV. It is expected that this compact SUV will get sedan's IS 300h 223 hp hybrid power unit consisting of four-cylinder 2.5 L gasoline engine and electric motor.

According to company representatives, the appearance of this model with a preliminary name CX 300h is necessary in order to increase sales and more successfully compete in this segment with German premium car makers – BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

There were sold 154,461 compact SUVs in 2012 worldwide. IHS Automotive company analysts expect that in 2015 sales of these cars will be increased up to half a million copies.

Lexus is also intent to launch mass production of another new model – hybrid super coupe based on LF-LC concept car. German manufacturers haven't planned to make LF-LC serial initially, but due to a positive reaction to a model from dealers' and potential customers' side, Toyota management decided to give the go-ahead for this project.
