  • Mercedes-Benz works on a mini G-Wagen

    Hot Pic Title

Mercedes-Benz is not only about to continue manufacturing its classic all-wheel-drive G-Class, but is thinking of making a small SUV. This car is supposed to become a “younger brother” of G-Wagen and to become a direct competitor of Land Rover Defender. It will hit the market approximately in 2015.

The famous German car manufacturer is going to build a compact G-Wagen on the same MFA platform as an A-class hatchback. The motor range will be adopted from A-class as well: 1.6L 122 hp gasoline engine and two versions of 2.0L aggregate, having a capacity of 155 and 211 hp.

The diesel range will be a lot wider showing that the main market for this car is Europe. The basic 1.8L diesel engine's capacity will be 109 hp and 2.1L version will be available in three versions with a capacity of 136, 170 and 204 hp.

Except for a front-wheel drive, the car will be available in a two-wheel drive modification. It will be fitted with 7G-tronic automatic transmission as well.

As it became known, a new Daimler SUV most likely will be marked as GLG. The main thing that mini-G reminds its “big brother” with is design that is going to be made in the same angular style.
