The long-awaited supercar is finally introduced: General Motors unveiled the seventh generation of legendary Chevrolet Corvette sports car at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The new supercar is called Stingray, just as the car built in 1953, and is fitted with the most high-powered engine in the history of the model and has completely new design.

According to General Motors, new supercar has got just two details from Corvette C6 – chassis, power-unit, transmission and design are completely new. Its body panels are partially made of carbon fibers, which made the car 17 kilos lighter. Supercar is fitted with 6.2L V8 450 hp engine, six-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmission at choice. It takes Corvette less than 4 seconds to accelerate up to 100 kph.

But Chevrolet Corvette traditionally attracts potential customers not so much with power or dynamic characteristics, as with its look. And according to Chevrolet designers, seventh generation is as much visually impressive car as Stingray 1963, but its ambitious design, which combines technological elements and those adopted from nature, is now completely functional.

New Corvette is attractive from the inside as well. Its interior is divided in two parts – for driver and for passengers – and is elaborated with natural carbon fiber and aluminum. There are two types of seats at choice: GT and Competition Sport, notable for the comfort level and lateral support maturity.

New Corvette will hit the USA market in this year's autumn. The approximate price of the seventh generation will be about $ 50,000.
