    Hot Pic Title

Peugeot took the wraps off the next generation of 308 hatchback: it became lighter, shorter and more environmentally friendly.

The new car is built on a modular platform EMP2, just as Citroen C4 Picasso compact van. It will be first introduced to a public in Germany at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September and will hit the market right after making its debut.

New Peugeot 308 is “reduced” by 140 kg, becoming at the same time a little lower and shorter – it is 4.25 m at length and 1.46 m in height. Meanwhile the trunk became larger by 40 lts – its volume is equal to 470 lts now. Despite Peugeot has not provided any information on the motor range of a new car, it specified that because of the reduced mass, the model will be more eco-friendly.

The highlight of a new model is supposed to be a 9.7-inch touch screen. By using this display, it is possible to control most of the car systems including climate control unit. However, there is a minimum number of keys left on the dashboard, for example, volume regulator of the audio system and hazard warning lights key.

Next gen Peugeot 308 is fitted with light-emitting-diode headlights as well. According to car manufacturer, they appear on C-segment cars for the first time ever.
