  • Technical details of Golf next generation are revealed

    Volkswagen revealed first official information on seventh generation Volkswagen Golf which was expected to be first introduced at the Paris Motor Show 2012 but will make its public debut on September 4 at the special event in Berlin.

    Hatchback will predictably become more spacious, light and fuel-efficient. It is expected to hit the European market in November.

    VW Golf is based on all-new MQB modular platform with an independent suspension McPherson that will cut weight of the a car by 100 kg. Comparing to current model, a new version will be 56 mm longer, 13 mm wider and 28 mm lower. It will make a new car more fuel-efficient: Golf 7 will consume 23% fuel less. Car interior is more spacious now and trunk increased by 30 L but it is still not too large.

    The car will be fitted with various new electronic systems. It stands to mention an adaptive cruise control with automatic breaking function, all-around video view complex, road marking tracking system, road signs analyzer and driver fatigue detector. Classic handbrake will be replaced with an electronic one and steering gear will receive five operation modes: Eco, Sport, Normal, Individual and Comfort.

    Rumor has it, Golf 7 motor range will consist of ten engines including three TSI engines, one GTI and four diesel engines. Along with standard versions, German manufacturer will introduce a hybrid modification Golf E85 but its details are not known yet.
