  • Traffic rules changes in Switzerland

    Early in 2014 new traffic rules will come into effect in Switzerland. It became known after the Swiss cabinet has announced realization of second Via sicura dispatch.

    According to it, from next year, driving with dimmed headlights becomes mandatory. Besides, Swiss Department of Transportation is going to impose a ban for alcohol for certain social groups.

    There are enhanced punitive measures to those drivers, who are going over the speed limit, already in force since the start of the year and with the realization of second Via sicura, there will be following rules introduced as well:

    Motor vehicles will have to drive with dimmed headlights in daylight hours as well – penalty for violation is 40 francs;

    The limit of acceptable blood alcohol level for driving school students, driving instructors and simply young drivers will be cut from 0.5 to 0.1 per mille. It practically means the total ban for alcohol at the wheel.
