German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen has chosen São Paulo International Automobile Trade Show to once again demonstrate its attention to a compact SUV's segment by introducing VW Taigun prototype which differs not only with compact size but with original power train as well.

Taigun SUV is built on a front wheel drive platform and is relatively small: it is 3859 mm long, 1728 mm in width and 1570 mm tall. Its wheel base reaches 2470 mm and its overhang is relatively not too large improving its off-road ability by that.

This prototype has five doors and is meant for five passengers. The interior of SUV is designed in VW up! style but is fitted with a spacious trunk with a capacity of 987L when rear seats are fold. Besides, according to developers, they also provided the possibility to integrate smartphones into an onboard electronics system.

VW up! shared with a new SUV its power train but Taigun 1L engine was boosted. It develops 110hp and 175 Nm and is able to accelerate up to 100 kph in 9.2 seconds with and average fuel consumption of 4.7L/100 km.

Taigun is a front wheel drive car but developers assure that it is able to approve itself in a cross-country too. It is fitted with 17-inch wheels and additional projectors integrated into a roof rack.

The future of prototype is not known yet but it is quite possible that VW's compact SUV, which company promised to built on a Polo platform, will look exactly like this.
