  • Volkswagen vehicles become more ecological

    German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen is going to invest 62 billion in ecological and economical vehicles development. Car maker sets itself a really ambitious mission: every next generation of its models will be 10-15% more economical than previous.

    According to Volkswagen representatives, more than two-thirds of amount to be invested during next five years will be spent on new and more effective vehicles, engines and technologies development, as well as on Volkswagen plants' environmental friendliness improvement.

    Already this year company plans to launch more than 40 new, renovated and more eco-friendly models – till 2015 average level of CO2 emission should be reduced by 30% and won't exceed 120 g/km. It will be possible because of a new MQB platform and hybrid technologies usage.

    Vehicle production itself will also become more ecological: Volkswagen will invest € 600 million in more large usage of renewable kinds of energy – wind, sun and water – and till 2020 its plants' CO2 emission will be reduced by 40%.

    Speaking of nearest company's plans, in 2013 it is going to introduce electric Volkswagen up! minicar.
