  • Volvo took the wraps off the new Concept Coupe

    Volvo has officially introduced its new concept car entitled Concept Coupe which demonstrates not only brand new design but the possibilities of modular platform as well.

    Concept Coupe combines as modern design elements that will be used on future Volvo models, as the range of stylistic details of P1800 Coupe of the 1960s. According to Volvo, this concept car is not a futuristic model but the demonstration of a new modular platform SPA possibilities. The first production model fitted with such kind of chassis is going to be next generation XC90 SUV hitting the market next year. Despite XC90 is a much different vehicle, its interconnection with a new Coupe is quite visible.

    The prototype is fitted with a hybrid power unit consisting of 2L Drive-E engine with a compressor and turbocharger, as well as electric motor setting in motion back axle of the Coupe. The aggregate capacity of the power unit is about 400 hp and more than 600 Nm.

    There is a large touch screen on a central console which information is being duplicated in front of the driver with the use of projection-type display. Its interior is made of natural materials and shifter of crystal.
