While there are many attractions to choose from, here are a few that are sure to be enjoyed by the whole family. Start with a visit to the Museum of the History of Bologna. You can find this wonderful museum in the Palazzo Pepoli, and inside it, you will discover 34 rooms that cover Bologna`s amazing 2,500-year history.
The Bologna Town Hall has been around since 1336 and was once a palace. It contains a very interesting museum, filled with exhibits and artifacts. Upon entering, you will see the famous 16th century spiral staircase by Donato Bramante. It was designed for use by horse-drawn carriages! On the second floor, you will find a collection of sculptures, paintings, and furniture that goes all the way back to 13th century.
And everyone should visit the Le Due Torri, which is one of two leaning towers in the city (only this one is open to the public). It has nearly 500 steps up and leans about 1.3 meters off center. The other tower, Toree Garisenda is no longer open. The two towers were built between 1109 and 1119 by the Asinelli family.
For those who want to rent a car in Bologna, you will need a driver`s license and an international driver permit. In Italy, seatbelts are mandatory for both front and back, and police are authorized to collect traffic fines on the spot!
